Some good news – the Palm Springs real estate deal is moving forward. \u00a0Will was able to run the management company’s numbers and determined that the owner was taking a loss and actually had -$300 in revenue last year. \u00a0That said, Will convinced the group that the place was not being marketed properly and that we could do a much better job after some significant improvements. \u00a0After some discussion and debate, we voted 5-0 to have Skip send in a check for $20k in earnest money today. \u00a0Also, as we will need to replace the roof and update the electrical system immediately, we will need to sell off a chunk of our holdings in order to raise an additional $50k in cash unless we can get a credit from the seller. \u00a0One idea was to do the roof ourselves one weekend after closing to save some money, but that may be tough to schedule.<\/p>\n
In Apple news, the top retail guy and another hotshot were fired yesterday, and Will led a discussion of whether we might want to sell some Apple off in the first quarter. \u00a0In today’s LA Times, a Moe said that firing top people was a sign of strong leadership and a show of confidence for Apple. \u00a0So it’s a funny world. This will all be banged out at the January or February (Danielle’s call) annual meeting.<\/p>\n
Speaking of which, we’re looking at Jan. 25-27, 2013 or Feb. 8-10, 2012 for the Annual Meeting in Vegas. \u00a0Will is going to clear a date with Danielle as she has a big show on one of those dates and we want him to remain happily married.<\/p>\n
There was also a discussion led by Will of disbanding the club due to the slacktitude of so many members, but Skip accepted the blame for everything that had ever gone wrong since 1994 and Will seemed mollified.<\/p><\/div>\n
In funny bits you missed, many jokes were made of Lance’s water skiing Skype photo, Doug’s membership in EMBOW 144’s parallel universe group, “EMBOW 145” and Kev can make the Skype computer dialing noise most effectively.<\/p>\n
